This oven is made of high-quality stainless steel and it looks really nice. It’s a nice design. It also includes an oven door with handle.
The manufacturer might be named Big Horn but this oven is compact enough to fit even on a very small patio. The dimension are: 21 by 14 by 24 inches.
It only weighs 25 pounds, definitely portable without difficulties.
The Big Horn Outdoors Wood Fired Pizza Maker bakes on a square pizza stone, which measure 12 by 12 inches.
It is equipped with folding legs and it requires minimal assembly, no tools needed. That’s good because it means that you can also pull it apart for cleaning and storage.
Bakes in 2 minutes
The amazing thing is that you only have to preheat the oven for 18 minutes. I have to preheat my pizza stone for much longer than that. It usually needs at least 30 minutes.
You will be able to bake pizzas in as little as 2 minutes. But you can use it to cook all kinds of dishes, especially a wide variety of meats.
It works with wood pellets, which makes things a lot less complicated. And less messy.

There’s a new kid on the block and that’s the Ninja OO101 Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Oven, Pizza Oven.
Since it’s so new, at the moment it doesn’t have all that many reviews. But I will admit that I’m thoroughly pleased to see that Ninja has done it again: it has created a serious competitor for all the other outdoor pizza ovens.
It’s no doubt that the Ninja OO101 Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Oven, Pizza Oven is totally one of the best pizza makers.
The price around $400 is not bad either. I love everything that I’m seeing and experiencing.
Plus, the design is so gorgeous and compact.
Wood pellets & electric outdoor pizza oven
Of course, I must mention first that it works with wood pellets.
We can add woodfire flavor to anything we make and at any temperature. Ninja also mentions that we can achieve that with only 1/2 cup with pellets.
The wood pellets are used just for giving that woodfire flavor to our food.
But this Ninja is actually an electric outdoor pizza oven. That makes it so much easier to use, no second-guessing what temperature you’re cooking at.
Besides being an outdoor pizza oven that has such a compact design, this Ninja can also be used a high roaster, a BBQ smoker, it’s weather resistant and portable.
The temperature we can achieve with wood pellets is 700 degrees F. That’s acceptably high.
The lowest is 105 degrees F for using it as a drhydrator.

However, someone mentioned in their review that they use this model indoors, placed on a granite countertop and the countertop doesn’t even get warm under it. I wouldn’t try it but I just wanted to let you know about this discovery.
Just as all the other portable models, it promises to bake pizzas in under 2-4 minutes. That’s enough info to let us know that can reach those really high temperatures that are needed for rivaling professional bakers.
It reaches temperatures up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit.
On their website, they describe it as having a patented 5-sided stone baking chamber that utilizes convective, conductive, and radiant heat transfer.
There are 2 stainless steel burners. It has 25,000 BTUs of cooking power.
The baking chamber is pretty big, measuring 15 inches W x 13.75 inches D x 3 inches inches H.

The main reason for reviewing it is that it indeed works perfectly, it bakes pizzas so good that they rival anything a brick oven can bake.
Plus, the price is pretty good. After all, it’s an accessory so, it shouldn’t cost too much. And it’s from a very well known manufacturer.
What is it and how do you use it?
It’s actually a construction that goes on top of a grill. There are users who place it on a Camp Chef 16″ Cooking System stoves but there are also others who use it on different grills from other manufacturers.
The dimensions are: 24 x 9 x 16 inches. And it weighs 30 pounds, it’s a solid, sturdy thing. If you measure your grill and it fits, you can get it.
It’s open-mouthed and has a cordierite stone inside. A door would have been nice but it works perfectly well without one. It’s supposed to imitate a traditional wood-fired brick oven.

Surprisingly, the most expensive best pizza maker will actually be found here: the section for pizza ovens that can be used indoors, which are also called countertop pizza ovens. Breville is the manufacturer that has come up with that and I’ll review it in just a bit.
However, before going to the actual reviews, let’s establish something: if you already own a home wall oven, then you can easily use that one by simply buying a pizza stone. Once you preheat the stone/baking steel for 40 minutes up to an hour, the results will rival those of any best pizza maker.
But if you don’t have a lot of space, these countertop models will be just perfect. There are plenty to choose from. Even if your budget is under $100, you can still find something really awesome.
1. Wisco 421 Pizza Oven: Overall Best Pizza Maker for Indoors
At first glance, what I really like is the fact that it’s not tall, it measures 7.75 inches in height. And it only weighs 19 pounds so you can store it away if you can’t find it a fixed place.
Now, let’s review technical features because those will tell you if this is the best pizza maker that you were looking for.
The temperature only goes as high as 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius). That’s not really high, especially when it comes to baking pizzas.
Nevertheless, don’t be discouraged because it still manages to bake really well.
My theory is that it bakes so well because the baking chamber is really narrow. As I’ve mentioned, this is a very short pizza making machine. It means that the heating elements are very close to what you’re baking. In my opinion, that’s awesome.
And it’s a plus that it maintains constant temperatures. If you set it on 500 degrees, the heating elements will kick in when it reaches 490 degrees. I really like this consistency.
With or without baking stone
You can try baking without a pizza stone in the beginning, you can use a pan or bake directly on the rack. There are many who use it like that.

I came across this model when searching for the best flatbread maker machines. Pizza is a flatbread, thus I decided that this model is an affordable option that can work unexpectedly well.
The affordable price is definitely the thing that stands out first. However, its capabilities are awesome.
How it works
You can make fresh thin-crust pizza or you can use it to bake frozen pizzas. It works for 7 to 12 inches pies. Even one pretty loaded with toppings will be baked with a nice crust and the cheese completely melted.
It works just like an oven, with the addition that the nonstick baking tray rotates and it’s all out in the open. There’s no enclosed space for this interesting best pizza maker.
There are dual heating elements that can be controlled separately, which is another plus.
The rotating mechanism ensures that the heating elements reach all sides, including the middle.
You could also try it for naan, focaccia or pita. And other dishes that you want to bake, it’s quite versatile and I really like that.
Moreover, this is a model that has withstood the test of time. There are plenty reviews in which users stated that it still works perfectly after many years of use.
There’s also a timer.
The tray is removable. Once you remove the tray, you’re left with a tiny machine that resembles coffee makers a bit. It saves up a lot of space. This is one of the best pizza makers for those with limited space on the countertop.

3. Breville Smart Oven Pizzaiolo: So Expensive
I saw this one being recommended by Wirecutter. Knowing the manufacturer, I already thought that it should be an interesting oven with lots of functions and impressive features.
I always associate Breville with a lot of extra functions that you won’t find in any other products, which I love.
Then I remember another thing that I associate Breville with: very high prices. But nothing prepared me for how much this countertop pizza oven really costs. I think my brain just stopped functioning for a minute or so. And I thought their hand mixer was pretty pricey.
When my brain finally got back in gear, I decided that I wanted to talk about it. It got me excited to see what a countertop oven from them can do.
Is it a good recommendation for the best pizza makers?
Let’s be honest: I won’t recommend it as the best pizza maker. It’s not just because it’s incredibly expensive but also because there are some complaints from users.
The customer service from Breville is very responsive and they will handle complaints and replace things and all that. But, if I were to pay so much money and had to go through a lot of trouble after a couple of of times using it, I would lose my mind.
For one person, the pizza stone cracked in two. And the unit caught fire twice. We will talk about how to use the baking stone later on and maybe it won’t happen to you.
Another user mentioned that it cracked after a few months’ use and the deep dish pan rusts at seams.
For another, the oven managed to short out their condominium unit. At 1800 Watts, it’s not outrageously powerful so, that surprised me.
I will say that there is a considerable number of people who are completely satisfied and don’t have any problems at all.
That’s the whole picture. Now, we can talk about features.

I’m quite convinced that when people think about the best pizza makers they aren’t exactly imagining a toaster oven as the top pick.
I’m not saying that it’s what everyone should get. But I also love presenting all kinds of options. And that option includes this Hamilton Beach.
This Hamilton Beach and the Cuisinart that I’ll review just below are 2 ovens that I’ve discovered while doing my research for the best countertop ovens for baking cakes. They’re very versatile and that’s why I like them.
Why did I choose to review it?
Because it’ cheap, small, light, can work as an oven or a toaster and it can actually make a delicious 12 inch pizza.
All you need is to get a 12 inch pizza stone for the best results. The good news is that smaller stones like that are pretty affordable. A good example is the Geebobo Pizza Stone for Oven and Grill, if you need a place to start.
If you have limited space, this can be your perfect choice. It only measures 15.24 x 18.74 x 9.41 inches and it weighs 11.4 pounds.

Temperature range: between 150 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
450 degrees F might not seem much but with a good stone it can do the job. It will just a bit longer until the dough gets baked, the cheese melted, and the toppings cooked.
There’s also a 30 min timer with auto shutoff plus the stay on option.
It comes with: baking/broiling pan, oven rack, and crumb tray.

This Cuisinart might be a convection oven with a pretty affordable price but it actually comes with a 13-inch round pizza stone. That’s a clear indication that we should view it as one of the best pizza makers for indoors.
Again, it’s a small oven that fits on the countertop or wherever you want to place it indoors.
Dimensions: 20.87 x 16.93 x 11.42 inches.
It’s a bit bigger but the advantage is that you can bake 13 inch pies. It can also fit inside 12-cup muffin pans and 9 x 13 inches cake pans or a quarter sheet pan.
Cuisinart TOB-260N1 has 11 cooking functions: toast, bagel, waffle, dual cook, bake, broil, roast, pizza, sandwich, keep warm, leftover.
The buttons also have a lot of functions: selector (for the cooking functions), +30s (add 30 seconds cooking time to any function), oven light, conv (convection button), speed conv (eliminates preheating), dual cook (combines 2 cooking functions or 2 temperatures), Start/Stop.
If you read the user manual with care, you’ll be able to understand how it all works and how to operate it.
Temperature range: between 150 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit, which is quite the classic for convection ovens.
The nice thing about this Cuisinart is that you can bake with the convection on or off.

Types of Pizza Makers
As I’ve already mentioned, pizza makers are actually pizza ovens. They’re the same thing. But, as you saw from my selection above for the best pizza makers, there are a lot of models to choose from.
These are the models that actually have the words pizza maker in their names.
Frankly, they pretty much look like quesadilla makers, I’m pretty sure that’s where the inspiration for these models comes from.
They might seem great at first glance but they’re not my favorite. I would say get one of these if you only plan on baking the frozen types.
Most of them seem to stop working in less than two years, which is quite disappointing.
I decided to leave them out of my selection for the best pizza makers and focus on the other two types instead.
It would be better to use your home oven and maybe buy a pizza stone or a baking steel for the money than to pay for this kind of pizza maker machine.
These are perfect for small apartments but their small size won’t stop you from baking pizzas all day long.
They bake quickly and, if you combine their power with what a baking stone offers, you can have the perfect winning combination for a pretty good price.
These small ovens would fit perfectly in a house where a home oven would take up too much space.
They’re very easy to use, some the best pizza makers for making pies at home, whenever you feel like it, without spending too much money.
Portable outdoor ovens
These ones reach the same insane temperatures that brick ovens are capable of, with very good heat distribution.
But these portable models can be quite expensive. The cheaper ones can cost around $200 but the really great models that have a bigger baking surface will cost at least $500.
If you don’t want to deal with wood burning, choose a gas one. There are some that work with either gas, wood or charcoal.
The wood-fired types truly are some of the best pizza makers that you can buy. But you’ll have to spend extra money on wood pellets. Take into consideration that you need to put some work into it before the whole baking can take place.
The good news is that with portable ovens, which are definitely on the smaller side, the process is faster and a lot less complicated.

Well, this seems to be a thing. I’m pretty sure that it started a couple of years ago or maybe further back. Since we’re talking about pizza maker machines, let’s see what the deal is with air fryer pizza. We want to be inclusive.
It seems that people who have tried love it and they claim that pizza cooks quickly with a crispy bottom crust.
The few tips for making it include:
- assemble the pizza in the air fryer unless you have a model with a front-opening door – roll out the dough, transfer it into the air fryer and add the toppings there
- cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) for about 7 minutes
- others recommend baking at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes – it will depend on the model, the easiest way to tell is by the crust, it will be golden and the cheese melted
- if you have the basket-type, you’ll have to use two pair of tongs or two spatulas in order to remove it once it’s baked
I will admit that the results look mouth-watering.
Cheapest Substitute for Outdoor Pizza Makers
You basically just need to buy the Lodge Cast Iron Pizza Pan, which has a 15 inch diameter. If you think 15 inches is too big, the other option is the 14 inch Lodge Cast Iron Baking Pan.
Both of these options are really affordable.
But how can you use the Lodge Cast Iron Pizza Pan to substitute a portable pizza oven that works either on wood pellets or on gas?
By simply placing the pan on the grill outdoors. The result can be mistaken for a pizza baked in an outdoor pizza oven.
If you want to take things to the next level, you’ll want to place the Lodge cast iron pan together with a wood chip smoke box and close the lid on your grill. Check from time to time to see how it goes until you get the timing right.
It’s definitely a fantastic solution to those really expensive pizza oven kits. I wouldn’t recommend those, I can’t imagine why they would cost so much.
You can also use either of these pans in a home oven as a replacement for a baking stone.
So, you get a pan that can replace expensive ovens both indoors and outdoors, for a fraction of the cost. That’s not a bad deal.

I would say that it’s not necessary. Unless you really want a pizza maker machine to feed your family the most delicious pizzas.
If you have a home oven and you want to considerably increase the quality of the crust and make it close to what restaurants achieve, I recommend using a pizza stone or a baking steel.
That type of bakeware can elevate your baking by a lot. And the same models can be used for baking breads, too.
On the other hand, portable pizza ovens, whether they are gas-fired or wood-fired can reach outstanding temperatures.
Professionals bake at 750 degrees Fahrenheit (approx. 400 degrees Celsius). Actually, the temperature is 1000 degrees Fahrenheit where the fire is. It’s why I said that you should consider getting an infrared thermometer.
If you’re absolutely determined to make the best pizza at home and you’re a perfectionist with a considerable budget, those small but powerful ovens that I reviewed above will be exactly what you need.
These kinds of ovens can be a thing of absolute beauty and using them can be extremely rewarding. It has to be truly rewarding, otherwise you’ll remember how much money you spent on it.
